You might not expect great public art from the same people who bring you your “Jersey Shore” fix, but New York is a world of contradictions. MTV is using the power of its communications for good in partnership with public art proponent Creative Time to bring a retrospective of the films of artist Bruce Conner to the denizens of Times Square. The three-film series begins with a countdown, leads to a nuclear holocaust and dissolves into a visual raga, all on the MTV big screen on Broadway between 44th and 45th Streets. The films begin at the top of every hour from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28.
